Workshops
General workshop
No sportswear or yoga mat required.
Series of three in-depth Workshops
Sportswear and a yoga mat are required for these sessions.
General workshop
This workshop is suitable for everyone and lasts between 45 minutes and one hour.
The exercises are simple and performed either standing or seated in a chair, so sportswear is not required. However, wearing a dress or skirt is not recommended.
This session is particularly well-suited for musicians who have little or no experience with yoga. The purpose is to provide an introduction to yoga and offer insight into how it can support overall well-being.
The workshop begins with gentle movements to warm up the body. We then focus on exercises for the back and shoulders, along with a few balance poses. The session concludes with breathing techniques and a final relaxation. These closing exercises encourage mental calm by promoting awareness of thoughts.
All movements taught during the workshop can be practiced independently. Each participant will receive a handout with the exercises, clear instructions, and information on their benefits for the body.

Three in-depth workshops
This set of three individual workshops forms a comprehensive in-depth series.
Each session lasts one hour and no prior yoga experience is required.
The first workshop focuses on the neck, the second on the shoulders, and the third on the back. As these sessions go deeper into physical awareness and practice, sportswear and a yoga mat are required. Each workshop begins with a warm-up, followed by a series of yoga poses. The sessions end with a breathing exercise and a final relaxation.
The poses are calm and steady, with time between each pose to reflect on how the body responds. This mindful approach helps participants develop greater body awareness and learn to recognize their physical limits, which is important for preventing injuries.
Each of the three workshops features a different breathing technique and final relaxation. While the exercises vary, the theme of the closing practice remains the same: observing thoughts to bring calm and clarity to the mind.
All poses taught in the workshops can be practiced independently. Each participant receives a handout with the poses, step-by-step instructions, and an explanation of their physical benefits.

Hi! Mijn name is Marije.
Music has always played a significant role in my life. At a young age, I became fascinated by the French horn. This passion led me to study at the conservatories of Rotterdam, Leuven, and Amsterdam. During my studies, I discovered the crucial role of breath in musical performance. As I searched for more control over my breathing, I found my way to yoga and meditation.
My first yoga classes were a real challenge. I was stiff, and my breathing was shallow, but after each session, I felt more relaxed, refreshed, and balanced. Over time, I noticed a real shift. I gained better control over my breath, became more flexible, and felt more in charge of my stress and relaxation. This gave me greater confidence in my physical and mental well-being.
Driven by a desire to deepen my knowledge and share it with friends and colleagues, I took several courses: basic yoga teacher training, yoga therapy, breathwork and relaxation techniques, sound healing, and wellness massage. These courses didn’t just teach me more about yoga; they gave me powerful tools to create real change in my life and the lives of others.
Today, I teach yoga and meditation at a yoga teacher training program in Rotterdam—the same place where my journey started a few years ago. What excites me most is helping musicians become more aware of their body, breath, and mind so they can perform and live with greater ease and confidence.
Marije has a pleasant and calm teaching style, with a soothing voice that’s easy to listen to. Before and after the live online classes, there is space for personal questions. Both the physical and mental aspects of yoga and meditation are addressed, with a focus on the needs of musicians. Because Marije understands what it means to rely on your body while making music, the exercises are purposeful and constructive.
