About Marije

    Hi! My name is Marije.

I support musicians who want to play with less tension and fewer injuries.

Many musicians are taught to push through discomfort, but over time, this often leads to physical complaints, stress and burnout. I believe that body awareness is the key to a sustainable musical career.

I’m a French horn player and a yoga teacher. I studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam and Amsterdam and know firsthand the physical and mental demands of a musical career. During my own studies, challenges with breath control led me to yoga, an experience that changed the way I relate to my body and my playing.

Through yoga, breathwork and meditation, I learned how to work with my body instead of against it. Today, I combine my experience as a professional musician with my experiences as a yoga teacher. My mission is to help musicians reconnect with their body, reduce tension and find more calm, freedom and trust while making music.

    Yoga with Marije is wonderful!

Marije has a soothing voice that helps you relax completely. She clearly explains how to breathe, where to direct your breath, and what to notice in your body. The different asanas/poses are specifically designed for musicians, ensuring you do what’s best for your body as a musician.

I just finished the full hatha class, and it was exactly what I needed after a day with low energy. Getting into the body and fully allowing myself to relax instead of working against it made a big difference. My breathing became deeper with every exercise. Thank you!

Marije has a pleasant and calm teaching style, with a soothing voice that’s easy to listen to. Before and after the live online classes, there is space for personal questions. Both the physical and mental aspects of yoga and meditation are addressed, with a focus on the needs of musicians. Because Marije understands what it means to rely on your body while making music, the exercises are purposeful and constructive.
